What is Aberlour 14 Years?

The calm middle ground in the range

Aberlour 14 Years sits between the approachable 12 Years and the rich 18 Years. It has matured for two years longer than the 12, which is most noticeable in the oak: more oak, more spices and a deeper layer of fruit. Aberlour calls the bottle a batch release, bringing together craftsmanship and knowledge of the maturation process.

The flavor profile revolves around fruit, butterscotch, oak and spices, with a soft note of blackcurrant and a creamy finish. It is bottled at 40% ABV, making it just as mild in alcohol as the 12 Years Double Cask. This makes it a whisky you can drink neat without adding water, and one that pairs well with a dessert or a piece of cheese.

How to drink it

How to drink Aberlour 14 Years

A soft, rounded malt at 40%: straight is the obvious choice, but it also works well with food and in a warm cocktail.

Straight after dinner

4 cl at room temperature in a tulip-shaped glass. Give it a few minutes; the butterscotch and blackcurrant will become more pronounced, and the finish creamier.

Aberlour 14 Years is 40%, just like the 12 Years Double Cask. The 18 Years is 43%.

The 14 spent two years longer in casks. As a result, it has more oak and greater depth in the fruit, with butterscotch, blackcurrant and a creamier finish.
What does Aberlour 14 Years taste like?
Fruit, butterscotch, oak and spices, with a soft hint of blackcurrant and a rich, creamy finish. Round and balanced.
